Most of all we appreciate it you dropping by spontanously!!!
With our StreetCampaigns, Lopend Buurtje comes directly to you! These interactive workshops on wheels will inspire you, challenge you and help connect you. Just come on over and experience it; the Lopend Buurtje guys are always up for a nice chat! Anyone can join us, and you will also have the chance to let others know what improvements you would like to see in BZHW. It’s free, and we’ll have a cup of coffee or tea ready for you. Find us on 10 September near the basketball court, and on 1 October near The Bridge, both from 14:00-16:00.
The MultiCulti Event!
On Neighbor’s Day (“Burendag”), Saturday 25 September, there will be even more fun in Bezuidenhout West. On that day, the MultiCulti event will take place around the Neighborhood Center (“Het wijkcentrum”) on Jan van Riebeekplein. All neighborhood residents are invited to share their cultures, and we’ll create our own big work of art with the word home in all of your languages. The neighborhood has more than 50 different nationalities in it! There will be delicious treats, clothing and music from different countries, and everybody can participate in a simple way in the creation of the work of art. The event is from 13:00-16:00 and is part of the Lopend Buurtje Project from the The ArtConnects Foundation (the “stichting KunstVerbind”). The plan is to find a permanent place in the neighborhood for the work of art that we create.
Workshops in the Neighborhood Center
The Neighborhood Center Meeting Room (“de wijkhuiskamer”) is once again open, and there you can meet other neighborhood residents, for sure when Lopend Buurtje is around. At those times, things are always bubbling with energy and ideas on how to make BZHW an even better place and how we can package everything in a cool work of art. Participation is simple, and there’s always a cup of coffee or tea ready for you. And there will probably be yummy chocolate buns since the Lopend Buurtje guys are crazy about them! In any case, come over and take a look and then get inspired! We’ll be there on 14 September and on 5 October from 19:30-21:00.
Do you want to make improvements in the neighborhood? Want to think along with us and more importantly, take action to make improvements happen in BZHW? Become a NeighborhoodChampion (BuurtKampioen)! You might already be doing a lot, but still, sign up and help, because two are better than one, and twenty are even better than two! We are focusing on feasible small and big improvements, like a neighborhood garden, or more and better greenery in the neighborhood, and a variety of activity offerings in the neighborhood center for both younger and older residents. We guarantee you’ll meet great people, you’ll start to appreciate the neighborhood more, and you’ll help to make BZHW the shining jewel of The Hague. The coffee is ready! NeighborhoodChampion meetings are on 7 and 28 September and on 12 October from 19:30-21:00.
Workshop Buitenspeeldag (National Play Day)
In this workshop, parents and children will work together. We’ll make a work of art and get to know each other in a different way, what everyone’s dreams are and the things we really enjoy doing. All the materials that we need will be available on 21 September from 13:00 to 16:00, at the playground at the Hendrik Hamelplantsoen. Grandfathers and grandmothers with grandchildren are of course also welcome! It will really be a lot of fun, and eye-opening too.
